Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3 celebrates the hero within each of us while Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man honors the unsung heroes of World War II.  Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings is one of the most evocative pieces of American music, long associated with moments of intense emotional grief.  We conclude our journey through the country’s heritage of heroism and remembrance with Aaron Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait.
